Nuna TRVL VS. BABY ZEN YOYO 2 Stroller Comparison

Introduction

There's a conflict brewing in the world of baby gear that's more epic than Batman vs. Superman, more violent than Wonder Woman vs. Cheetah, and as intense as Xena vs. She-Ra, but coming from completely different universes!

In one corner is the TRVL by Nuna, a stroller that has carried more children and diaper bags than we can count. A formidable rival, the YOYO2 from BabyZen, lurks in the opposite corner, with just as many bells and whistles!

Are you prepared?

You had best be! By the end of this epic bout, you'll have a better idea of who will reign supreme in your parenting world.

Weight and Dimensions

Both strollers simplify travel and daily life as they grow with your child from infancy through toddlerhood, and both have pros and cons to weigh, depending on whether you're relying on the stroller primarily for air travel or using it as your all-purpose daily driver.

Similar Strollers

These two baby rides share many fantastic features that make them stand out in the crowded stroller market. Here are the similarities that make them both worth considering:

Options

Lightweight

Both the TRVL and YOYO² are designed with the modern parent in mind. They are incredibly lightweight, making them easy to maneuver, even in tight spaces.

Travel System Compatible

These strollers can both be turned into a travel system. The TRVL is only compatible with Nuna infant car seats (but doesn’t require an adapter), while the YOYO² can be used with infant car seats from Clek, Cybex, Maxi-Cosi, and Nuna, with this adapter.

Full Suspension

Both strollers provide a smooth and comfortable ride for your little one, thanks to their full suspension systems. Whether you're strolling on city sidewalks or bumpy paths, your baby will enjoy a gentle ride.

Easy To Clean

Parenting can get messy, but cleaning is a breeze with these strollers. The TRVL is water repellent so spills and messes can be wiped away, while the YOYO² is machine washable to make it look good as new!

Canopy UPF 50+

Sun protection is a must, and both strollers offer a UPF 50+ canopy to keep your little one shielded from harmful UV rays during your outdoor adventures.

Recline

Both strollers provide multiple recline positions, allowing your child to rest comfortably on the go.

Carrying Bag

Worried about damaging your stroller during travel? Don’t! Both come with a convenient travel bag, ensuring your stroller stays in pristine condition while you're on the move.

Daring Differences

Of course, these strollers also have their unique features and differences that can make or break your buying decision:

Nuna TRVL Babyzen YOYO2
  • Less Cost
  • Fold requires two steps (and for one step, two hands), compared with one-step, one-hand folded of TRVL

Has a larger footprint when folded and does not fit in an airplane overhead bin

  • Does not stand when folded like TRVL
  • Cannot be carried on your shoulder like YOYO2
  • Does not have no-rethread harness or magnetic buckle as seen on TRVL
  • Not compatible with car seats from brands other than Nuna
  • Requires attachment of car seat adapters, part of which must be removed before folding
  • Does not have accessories such as bassinet, footmuff or glider board
  • Does not have bumper bar option
  • Does not have extra storage pockets as seen on YOYO2
  • Leg rest is an accessory sold separately (included on TRVL)

The Fold Action

When you fold either stroller in an airport, you're likely to get an envious look from another parent.

The TRVL folds itself in a simple one-handed move, allowing you to hold your baby while the stroller does the job.

Simply move your thumb along the handlebar button while pressing with your fingers, then let go and let the stroller fold itself into a standing position. Lift the stroller by the bumper bar, then repeat the process to unfold it.

The YOYO's two-step fold requires more effort, but with a little experience, you can transform it from stroller to shoulder accessory in seconds.

The first step, which may be done while your child is still seated, is to fold the canopy by pressing two buttons. The second stage requires you to use only one hand to press and move a button beneath the stroller seat until the frame collapses. The YOYO, unlike the TRVL, features a padded strap that lets you to carry it on your shoulder.

Car Seats that work with Trvl and YOYO2

* Although the Cybex Cloud Q fits on the stroller, Babyzen does not recommend its use, as the weight of the car seat and the child (at maximum weight) exceeds the capacity of the YOYO.

Car Seats Compatible with Nuna Trvl:

• Nuna PIPA series (no adapters required)

Car Seats Compatible with the Babyzen YoYo2:

• Clek Liing
• Cybex car seats, excluding Cybex Cloud Q
• Maxi-Cosi infant car seats
• PIPA Series Nuna

So who wins?

The Nuna TRVL and BabyZen YOYO2 have several characteristics that parents would appreciate. However, they do have some significant distinctions that will likely impact which stroller is ideal for you and your family.

The TRVL has a slightly stronger frame, improved ventilation, the ability to smoothly snap on the PIPA car seat, a no-rethread harness, and an adjustable footrest for further comfort.

The YOYO2 sports a little smaller (and lighter) frame, overhead bin compatibility, additional storage, several color options, and a convenient carry strap. It is also suitable for newborns if you purchase the Newborn Pack or an infant car seat with adapters. Folding up the YOYO2 is a bit more complicated operation.

But, in the end, Nuna and BabyZen have both created outstanding and high-quality travel strollers that can meet the needs of most families.
